Chapter 14 - The Final Reckoning: Tearing Down the Syndicate That Threatened Their True Family

While Eleanor recovered in the hospital, the Cavanaugh family operated as a unified, unstoppable force.
Julian liquidated every corporate asset tied to Arthur Sterling’s syndicate, stripping the conspirators of their wealth, influence, and legal protections. Sterling and his accomplices were handed multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Meanwhile, back at Fairhaven Manor, the four of us took charge of remodeling the estate.
Mason redesigned the entire home automation network, dedicating its core server to Eleanor’s safety. Ethan spent three days painting the conservatory garden where Eleanor loved to drink her morning tea. Toby spent hours selecting soft woolen blankets and pillows for her bedroom.
I personally removed the heavy brass deadbolt from the East Wing master suite, opening the doors to let the fresh ocean breeze and warm sunlight flood the long-darkened rooms.
We were no longer the angry, destructive ghosts who haunted Fairhaven. We were brothers who had learned how to heal.
On the day Eleanor was discharged from the hospital, Julian personally drove the vintage family car to the hospital entrance.
When she arrived back at Fairhaven Manor, the massive iron gates swung open. Lining the long gravel driveway were dozens of estate staff members, security personnel, and neighbors, all clapping and cheering as the car pulled up to the grand front steps.
As Eleanor stepped out of the car, leaning slightly on Julian’s arm, she stopped and gasped.

Hanging across the grand stone balcony above the front entrance was a massive, hand-painted banner made by all four of us:
“WELCOME HOME, MOM.”
