Chapter 10 - A NEW DAWN

A year later, the backyard of our home was decorated with colorful balloons, paper lanterns, and a big
banner that read: HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, LIAM!
The afternoon sun was warm and golden, casting a beautiful glow over the gathering of our true family—our
close friends, Marcus, Julian, and Clara’s parents, who had flown in to celebrate with us. The sound of children
playing, glasses clinking, and soft music filled the air.
Clara stood by the outdoor table, looking radiant in a yellow sundress. She was holding Liam, who was wearing
a tiny birthday crown and trying to grab the frosting off his birthday cake.
"Make a wish, birthday boy!" Julian laughed, holding up his camera to capture the moment.
Clara looked at me, her eyes shining with tears of pure joy. "We don't need to wish for anything, Julian. We
already have everything we could ever want."
I stepped up beside her, wrapping my arms around her waist and kissing the side of her neck. Liam let out a
happy babble, smearing a glob of blue frosting directly onto my cheek. Everyone burst into laughter.
As I wiped the frosting away, looking at the smiling faces of the people who truly loved and supported us, I felt
a deep, profound sense of peace. We had survived the nightmare. We had faced the monster and won. Our family
was whole, safe, and bound together by a love that no amount of malice could ever break.
Later that evening, after the guests had left and Liam was fast asleep in his peaceful nursery, Clara and I sat on
the porch swing, watching the stars come out. The night was quiet, filled only with the gentle rustle of the leaves
and the steady rhythm of our breathing.
"I love you, Leo," Clara whispered, leaning her head against my chest.
"I love you more than life itself, Clara," I said, holding her tight. "We made it."
"Yes," she smiled, looking up at the stars. "We made it to the happy ending."

And as the cool night breeze wrapped around us, I knew that this was not just the end of our struggle, but the
beautiful, bright beginning of the rest of our lives.
