Chapter 2 - The Echo of a Forgotten Oathing

The silence outside the Grand Crescent Hotel felt heavier than lead.
The air itself seemed to freeze as the fleet of black vehicles screeched to a halt, forming an impenetrable barrier between the street and the glowing red carpet.
Doors flew open in unison.
Dozens of elite tactical guards, dressed in unmarked matte-black suits with tactical earpieces and concealed firearms, poured out.
They didn't look like standard event security.
They moved with chilling military precision, securing the perimeter, locking down every exit, and clearing a path through the terrified crowd of billionaires.
Ryan's hand, which had still been resting threateningly on Julian's shoulder, slowly dropped to his side.
The giant bouncer felt a cold sweat break out across his thick neck.
His earpiece was shrieking with frantic chatter from the hotel's central security hub.
"Lock down all doors! Code Red! I repeat, Code Red!" shouted a voice in his ear.
Ryan swallowed hard, his eyes darting back to the young man in the faded jeans and simple gray jacket.
Julian hadn't flinched.
He didn't look like a trespasser anymore.
He looked like the eye of a category-five hurricane.
From the lead vehicle stepped a tall, silver-haired man in an impeccably tailored navy blue suit.
His face was pale, drained of all color, and his hands trembled slightly as he adjusted his expensive Swiss watch.
It was Alistair Vance, the chairman of Vance Global Holdings and one of the primary hosts of the Blackstone Summit.
Alistair pushed through the parting crowd of panic-stricken executives, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
He had seen the global alert flash across his private terminal.
He knew what it meant for his empire.
For everyone's empire.
Alistair scanned the red carpet frantically, his eyes passing over investment bankers, tech moguls, and high-ranking senators, until they finally locked onto the young man standing near the glass doors.
A gasp escaped Alistair's lips.
He stumbled forward, almost tripping over the velvet rope, before rushing straight toward Julian.
Ryan panicked, throwing his massive arm out to block the billionaire.
"Mr. Vance, stay back! This vagrant is—"
"Get your hands off him!" Alistair roared, his voice cracking with sheer terror.
Before Ryan could process the command, Alistair violently shoved the bouncer aside, staggering past him as if the giant man were nothing more than air.
The entire crowd gasped in disbelief.
The billionaire investor, a man who routinely made grown executives weep in boardrooms, was trembling as he approached Julian Cross.
Alistair stopped inches away, his hands shaking violently.
He forced himself to bow his head slightly—a gesture of absolute submission that no one present had ever witnessed him give to a living soul.
"Mr... Mr. Mateo," Alistair stammered, his voice trembling so badly the words barely formed.
Julian looked at him, his expression cold, detached, and utterly devoid of warmth.
"You've grown sloppy, Alistair," Julian said, his voice carrying clearly across the silent courtyard.
"I... we didn't know you were coming. The system gave no warning—" Alistair began, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"The system gave you ten seconds," Julian interrupted softly. "And your gatekeeper here tried to throw me out."
Ryan felt his knees go weak.
His vision swam.
The giant security guard stared in horror as Alistair slowly turned his head to look at him, his eyes filled with murderous fury.
"Mr. Mateo..." Alistair whispered, terrified to break eye contact with Julian. "What... what are your orders?"
Julian didn't look at Ryan.
He didn't need to.
With a slight, chilling tilt of his head, Julian murmured three words that sealed the bouncer's fate and sent shockwaves through the elite gathering.
"Clear the entrance."
Alistair didn't hesitate for a single microsecond.
He spun around, pointing a shaking finger directly at the paralyzed giant.
"Mr. Ryan," Alistair screamed at the top of his lungs, his face turning crimson. "Our main sponsor... you are fired immediately!"
Ryan staggered backward, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
"Fired? But sir, I was just following—"
"Shut your mouth!" Alistair shouted, veins bulging on his neck. "Pack your things and get off this property before I ensure you never work another security job as long as you live!"
The surrounding billionaires watched in stunned, breathless silence.
The power shift was absolute.
In less than three minutes, a man dressed in thrift-store clothes had dismantled the hierarchy of the most exclusive summit in the world.
Julian stepped past the ruined bouncer, walking slowly toward the revolving glass doors of the Grand Crescent Hotel.
As he crossed the threshold, every single person inside stepped back, clearing a wide, terrified path for him.
They didn't know his full plan.
They didn't know why he had returned after a decade in the shadows.
But as Julian glanced up at the glittering chandeliers overhead, a faint, dangerous smile touched the corner of his lips.

The game had just begun.
And they were all playing by his rules now.
