Chapter 6 - Harmony of Treason

Chaos erupted throughout the backstage corridors of the Metropolitan Music Center. The red emergency strobe lights cast rhythmic, bleeding shadows across the white walls as security guards scrambled in confusion, trying to locate the source of the fire alarm.
"This way!" Marcus shouted, leading Maya through a maze of service hallways toward the stage entrance.
Behind them, Eleanor Vance’s voice bellowed over the guards' radio channels: *"Do not let her reach the stage! Cut the power to the main auditorium if you have to!"*
"Did you copy the data from the soundpost?" Maya asked breathlessly as they ran.
"Every single gigabyte," Marcus replied, holding up a small transmitter device plugged into his phone. "It's primed. The moment you strike the first note on that stage, the wireless feed will patch directly into the venue's master broadcast truck. Five million viewers live nationwide will see Eleanor’s financial records flashed across the main stage screens."
They reached the heavy soundproof doors leading directly behind the main stage curtain. Through the thick wood, Maya could hear the rumble of the impatient crowd in the auditorium.
Suddenly, the door was thrown open from the inside. Standing in the doorway was Brad Harris, holding his microphone, his face flushed with panic.
"Where have you been?!" Brad hissed, grabbing Maya by the elbow. "You're up! The broadcast is falling apart! The judges are waiting!"
"Let go of me," Maya said, yanked her arm free with fierce dignity.
Brad looked at her, then at Marcus, and finally at the battered violin in her hand. "Whatever game you kids are playing, you have ninety seconds before we go to commercial. Get out there!"
Maya turned to Marcus. He gave her a firm nod. "Play for your father, Maya. Let them hear the truth."
Maya took a deep breath, lifted her chin, and stepped through the curtain into the blinding white glow of the main stage.
The moment she appeared, the five thousand audience members erupted into cheers. The video clip of her preliminary performance had racked up fifty million views online in twenty-four hours; the audience had come to see the miracle girl in person.
Sitting at the judge’s table, Victoria Sterling and Arthur Pendelton applauded enthusiastically. But Julian Vance sat stiffly, his hands folded, his eyes darting anxiously toward the VIP box where Eleanor was now sitting, surrounded by four armed guards.
Maya walked to the center of the stage. The spotlight pinned her down. She did not say a word. She didn't bow. She simply lifted *L'Ombre du Roi* to her collarbone and settled her chin onto the rest.
Backstage, Marcus jammed the wireless transmitter into the master stage feed box and hit *Execute*.
In the VIP balcony, Eleanor realized what was happening a second too late. She reached for her radio. "Cut her feed! Cut her microphone now!"
Maya drew her bow across the G-string.
A low, haunting chord echoed through the hall. But this time, as the sound surged through the speakers, the giant LED screens behind Maya flickered. The standard competition graphics vanished, replaced by scrolling lines of green code, bank account numbers, illegal transaction logs, and forged customs documents—all bearing the official digital signature of Vance International Art Holdings.
A collective murmur swept through the audience. People pulled out their phones, taking photos of the screens.
Julian Vance looked up at the screen, his face turning pale as he saw his own sister's name listed beside millions of dollars in laundered transactions linked to stolen cultural heritage.
On stage, Maya played with furious, breathtaking brilliance. The melody was fast, relentless, and soaring—a musical thunderbolt that mirrored the chaos unfolding around her. She was no longer just a performer; she was an instrument of justice.
Eleanor stood up in her box, her face contorted with rage. "Stop her!" she screamed to her head security officer. "Kill the power!"
The guard pulled out a heavy pair of wire cutters and lunged toward the main stage power box near the wings. But before he could reach it, Julian Vance stepped into his path, throwing his entire body weight into the guard and sending them both crashing into a stack of audio equipment.
The crowd gasped as a scuffle broke out at the edge of the stage. But Maya never missed a single note. Her fingers flew across the fingerboard in a dazzling display of virtuosity, her bow a blur of speed and power. The music climbed higher and higher, reaching a majestic, triumphant crescendo that filled every corner of the massive hall.

With a final, explosive stroke of her bow, Maya hit the closing chord. The sound echoed like a bell of freedom, ringing clear and true as the screens behind her flashed the final slide of data: *Case File: The Murder of Thomas Lin - Evidence Verified.*
