Chapter 6 - The Transformation

Far away from the mansion’s chaos, Clara sat in front of the glowing monitors in Elias’s loft, her fingers flying across the keyboard.

Before her mother had died, she had taught Clara one vital skill: computer engineering. While Victoria was out buying designer bags and learning how to ruin reputations with a whisper, Clara had spent her isolated years building codes, cracking encryptions, and learning how the digital world moved. Elias had the security codes to the Whitmore servers from his time as their enforcer, but it was Clara who was surgically extracting the poison.

"I have the offshore accounts," Clara said, her eyes reflecting the blue light of the screens. "Elias, they didn't just kill my mother for the inheritance. Charles has been embezzling millions from the charity foundation to fund illegal land grabs in South America. If this goes public, he doesn't just lose the company. He goes to federal prison."

Elias stood behind her, his hand resting lightly on the back of her chair. His shoulder was bandaged, but his presence was as solid as a mountain. "Copy it to the encrypted drives. We need to disseminate it to multiple journalists simultaneously so they can't kill the story."

Clara paused, looking at the progress bar. "If I hit enter, there is no going back. The Whitmore name will be destroyed. Everything they built will burn."

"Are you hesitating?" Elias asked, his deep voice perfectly neutral. He would support whatever choice she made.

Clara thought of her mother, dying alone on a cold kitchen floor. She thought of Maria, the maid who had been kind to her. She thought of the red wine soaking into her ivory dress while a room full of monsters laughed.

She pressed Enter.

"No," Clara said, her voice hard as steel. "Let it burn."

Elias looked at the girl he had pulled from the gala floor just days ago. She was gone. In her place was a queen claiming her throne. He felt a deep, unfamiliar warmth in his chest—a profound respect, and something much stronger.

"Now," Clara said, spinning around in her chair to face him. "We don't just leak it anonymously. I want to look them in the eye when their empire falls."

Elias smirked, a dangerous glint in his eye. "The annual Whitmore Shareholder Gala is tomorrow night. High security. Press will be there. Charles is planning to officially announce Victoria as the sole heir."

"Perfect," Clara said, standing up. "Elias, I'm going to need a new dress. And you're going to need a lot of ammunition."

"I'll handle the security," Elias said, his voice a low rumble. "You handle the execution."
