Chapter 18 - Unraveling the Cartel

Heinrich snapped his fingers. From behind the towering stacks of crates, six armed private mercenaries stepped out, holding automatic rifles pointed squarely at our group.
Marcus Vance stiffened, but I didn't even flinch. I simply reached into my tailored blazer pocket and pulled out my smartphone, tapping the screen twice.
"You brought six mercenaries with submachine guns, Heinrich," I said calmly, my voice ringing steadily across the concrete floor. "A very dramatic touch. But did you check who owns the security contracts for this entire industrial park?"
Heinrich’s smug grin faltered slightly. "What are you talking about?"
At that exact second, the heavy steel overhead doors at both ends of the warehouse slammed shut with a thunderous crash. The harsh fluorescent overhead lights flickered and turned from white to a blinding emergency red.
Heavy tactical boots echoed against the concrete as twenty heavily armed Swiss federal police officers, accompanied by elite Vanguard security operatives, swarmed the catwalks and exits, surrounding Heinrich's mercenaries before they could even raise their weapons.
"Drop your weapons! Federal Interpol sweep! Down on the floor now!" shouted the lead Interpol commander, his voice echoing off the metal walls.
Heinrich’s face turned the color of ash. He stared in absolute disbelief as his mercenaries dropped their rifles and raised their hands behind their heads.
"How... how did you know I was here?" Heinrich choked out, trembling as two federal officers slapped steel handcuffs onto his wrists.

I walked slowly toward him, stopping just inches away, looking down at him with quiet, absolute authority.
"You think because you operate in Zurich, you're beyond the reach of accountability," I said softly. "You forgot that when you steal cargo from a global logistics enterprise, you leave a digital breadcrumb trail straight to your front door. Marcus traced your encrypted communications the moment the first manifest was forged."
