CHAPTER 1: THE MAIDEN OF THE ANDES AND THE WANDERING KNIGHT

A savage blizzard howled through the jagged, narrow crevices of the Andes, carrying the bone-chilling cold of the early winter snows. At the highest peak, shrouded in a dense veil of white frost, a solitary figure stood as motionless as a statue carved from the mountain stone.
It was Elora. She wore a heavy cloak woven from the fur of a snow leopard. Her long, dark hair was braided neatly down her back, occasionally whipping through the air with every violent gust of wind. At her feet, a massive cougar named Luna growled softly in its throat, its golden eyes gleaming with a fierce light as it stared down into the bottomless valley below.
On Elora's slender back rested the ancient silver blade known as "The Silver Ray". The sword remained sheathed, but the natural magic flowing through the Andes seemed to constantly converge toward its hilt, which was forged from celestial meteoric stone. It emitted faint, rhythmic pulses of soft, pale blue light.
"Quiet, Luna," Elora whispered, gently patting the massive beast's head. Her voice was crystal clear yet cold, mirroring the ice and snow surrounding them. "They are here."
From the winding trail leading up the mountain, the heavy clatter of iron chains and armored hooves striking the thin ice echoed through the pass. A patrol from the Castile Expeditionary Force—six heavy knights—was ruthlessly pursuing a lone figure up the slopes. The Castile soldiers wore thick, blackened iron plate armor and clutched heavy arquebuses engraved with dark magic runes that hissed with dark, foul smoke.
The one they pursued was a young man. He was dressed in a threadbare alpaca cloak, barefoot against the frozen snow. Strangely, however, his footsteps left no prints in the drift. His face was entirely serene, his eyes as bright as the stars above as he looked forward without a trace of fear. This was Geronimo.
"Halt! Native heretic!" the patrol leader bellowed in Spanish, his voice muffled and metallic through his iron visor. "In the name of the Holy Inquisition, you have been condemned for practicing forbidden arts!"
BOOM!
The runic arquebus in the leader's hand erupted with a jet of black fire. The lead bullet, carrying a dark, cursed momentum, tore through the curtain of snow and flew straight toward Geronimo's back at terrifying speed.
Geronimo did not even turn his head. In a fraction of a second, he subtly shifted his weight and drew a fluid, circular arc in the empty air with both hands. The swirling snow around him suddenly coalesced under his palms, forming a rotating, invisible shield of pure kinetic energy.
The cursed lead bullet slammed into the shield and was instantly deflected, its trajectory bent by the vortex and hurled back at twice its original speed.
THWACK!
The bullet shattered the patrol leader’s iron shoulder plate, throwing him violently off his horse. He tumbled onto the snow, shrieking in agony.
"What is this? What black magic does he use?" The remaining soldiers halted their mounts in terror, their hands trembling on their weapons.
Watching the entire scene unfold from her high vantage point on the cliff, Elora's eyes lit up.
"Superb kinetic redirection! That young man... is no ordinary wanderer."
Without a second thought, Elora nudged Luna's ribs. The giant cougar roared, a sound that shook the canyon walls, and leapt down from the ten-meter-high cliff like a streak of golden lightning.
SLASH!
"The Silver Ray" cleared its scabbard. A beam of pure, brilliant silver light—so radiant it temporarily blinded the afternoon sun—slit through the air. The blade flashed so fast that three of the Castile soldiers' arquebuses were sliced clean in half before they could pull their triggers, the cuts as smooth as hot iron through wax.
"Step back behind me!" Elora landed gracefully in front of Geronimo, her silver sword pointed directly at the trembling soldiers, her voice commanding and fierce.
Geronimo was slightly startled by the sudden appearance of the cougar-riding maiden, but he quickly smiled, clasped his hands together, and bowed with easy grace.
"My thanks to you, milady, for intervening. However, you might want to watch your step with the necromancer standing at the rear."
Elora narrowed her eyes and looked past the frontline. The last knight was muttering incantations in an archaic, guttural tongue. His hands erupted with black, deathly smoke as he slammed a bone scepter onto the frozen ground. The earth beneath Elora's feet instantly cracked open, and three skeletal, blood-stained arms clawed their way out from the soil, gripping Luna's legs and causing the beast to roar in pain.
"Cowards!" Elora prepared to swing her sword downward to sever the bones, but the necromancer had already lunged, his cursed iron blade mere inches from her throat.
WHOOSH!
A rough but incredibly warm hand suddenly clasped Elora's wrist, gently pulling her back half a step. Geronimo was already standing in front of her, shielding her. He used no weapon; he simply raised his bare palm to meet the black-aura-shrouded blade of the necromancer.
CLANG!
The collision rang out like a great bronze bell. Geronimo's palm seemed protected by a dense, flowing barrier of soft, invisible air. The razor-sharp edge of the cursed sword could not break his skin.
"Flow with the wind, go!" Geronimo said softly.
He applied a gentle push to the hilt of his opponent's sword. A soft yet immense force—akin to a massive undercurrent beneath a silent ocean—channeled through the blade and struck the necromancer square in the chest.
CRACK!
The heavy steel breastplate shattered. The necromancer was hurled ten meters backward, crashing against the stone wall before slumping down, unconscious. The remaining soldiers, terrified by the display, hastily grabbed their wounded leader and scrambled down the mountain path as fast as their horses could carry them.
As the mist and snow slowly settled, peace returned to the high Andes.
Elora sheathed her silver blade and dismounted Luna. She bowed her head in the traditional greeting of the free tribes:
"I am Elora of the Southern Wind Tribe. My deepest thanks for your aid. Your skills just now... truly opened my eyes."
Geronimo smiled humbly, brushing the accumulated snow off his tattered cloak.
"I am Geronimo, a mere wanderer seeking the Way on these quiet peaks. Your sword, milady... it seems to carry a very powerful soul. It is no ordinary iron."
Elora looked down at "The Silver Ray", a touch of sorrow in her eyes.
"It was forged from pure Andean silver and celestial stone to resist the iron yoke of the Castile Empire. I am searching for those who share our path, to unite the fractured tribes."
Geronimo looked deep into Elora's resolute but heavy eyes. He felt the immense weight she carried on her young shoulders. He spoke slowly:
"This world is losing its balance due to the greed of those iron-clad men from across the sea. I am not strong enough to help you change an entire continent. But if you need a companion to walk these treacherous paths, I would gladly walk a mile with you."
Elora looked at the poor but brilliant young man before her, who carried himself with the quiet dignity of a grandmaster. She felt a rare warmth blooming in her chest amidst the freezing blizzard. She smiled.

"Then let us go, wandering knight. Ahead lies the territory of the thunder tribes, where our true journey begins."
Side by side, the two of them—accompanied by the golden cougar—walked into the distance, their long shadows stretching across the white snow under the golden sunset of the Andes.
