Chapter 20 - Horizons Beyond the Storm

Spring arrived in Baltimore with a sudden, breathtaking burst of emerald green and cherry blossoms along the harbor promenades.
At the Ruxton estate, the nursery windows were thrown open to let in the warm, crisp breeze of a new season. Ava, Noah, and Miles were now four months old—active, giggling, bright-eyed infants who filled the sprawling house with the chaotic, beautiful music of genuine life.

I didn't even open the notification. I simply swiped the screen away, tucked the phone back into my pocket, and tightened my arm around Miles as he let out a soft, sleepy yawn against my shoulder.
My father walked out onto the veranda, holding two cups of fresh coffee, handing one to me with a gentle, knowing smile.
“Looks like the weather is finally clearing up for good,” Dad said, looking out over the sparkling water.

“It cleared up the moment we stopped looking back,” I replied, taking a sip of the warm coffee.
