Chapter 15 - Sunlight on the Harbor: A King and His Queen (The End)

The afternoon sun sparkled like diamonds across the deep blue waters of Lake Michigan as Liam’s luxury yacht cut smoothly through the gentle waves.

Tommy was standing at the bow with Leo, wearing a miniature captain’s hat, laughing as seagulls soared over the white foam.

I stood by the teak railing on the upper deck, the cool lake breeze whipping through my sundress. The nightmare of the past year—the hospital bills, the fear, the violence—felt like a distant shadow that had been burned away by the radiant warmth of the sun.

Two strong, warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind.

Liam pulled me back against his broad chest, resting his chin on my shoulder, his lips gently brushing against the curve of my neck.

“Are you happy, Clara?” he whispered softly.

I leaned back against him, closing my eyes and breathing in the familiar, comforting scent of cedar, clean linen, and the ocean breeze.

“I’m happier than I ever thought possible,” I replied, turning in his arms to face him. “You saved Tommy. You gave us a family. You gave me everything.”

Liam looked down at me, his glacial blue eyes shimmering with an emotion so deep, so profound, that it brought sweet tears to my eyes.

“You did the impossible, Clara,” he murmured, his long fingers gently cupping my cheeks. “You walked into a dark room where a dying monster was waiting to rot, and you opened the blinds. You brought the light back into my life.”

Liam slowly sank down onto one knee on the polished teak deck.

From his pocket, he pulled a velvet box and opened it, revealing a magnificent, flawless five-carat diamond ring that captured the brilliant afternoon sunlight, refracting it into a thousand glittering rainbows.

“Clara Evans,” Liam said, his deep voice vibrating with absolute sincerity and eternal devotion. “You healed my broken body, and you conquered my heart. Will you marry me and rule this life by my side as my queen?”

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy spilled over my cheeks.

“Yes,” I cried, throwing my arms around his neck as he stood up. “Yes, Liam! A thousand times, yes!”

Liam slid the diamond ring onto my finger, then lifted me completely off my feet, spinning me around on the sun-drenched deck while Tommy and Leo cheered from below.

He set me down and captured my lips in a deep, passionate, and triumphant kiss.

The darkness was gone forever.
