With the overwhelming evidence provided by the original server and Daniel’s signed confession, the District Attorney offered no plea deals. The case was airtight.
Rachel Kim called me from her office downtown, sounding triumphant. "Ellie, the prosecutors are pushing for a mandatory ten-year sentence for Daniel and eight for Vanessa. They won't see parole anytime soon."
"Good," I replied, looking out my office window. "Let them think about what it's like to have their freedom stolen by lies."
