The following Saturday, society magazines and news networks broadcasted the wedding of the year: Daniel Mercer and Vanessa Cole in the Hamptons.
Clara and I sat in our Queens living room, sipping champagne as we watched the live-streamed red carpet coverage.
Vanessa wore a hundred-thousand-dollar haute couture gown, smiling triumphantly on Daniel's arm as flashbulbs blinded them.
