Chapter 17 - The Final Board Meeting

The morning sun cast a brilliant, golden glow across the panoramic skyline of the city as the final board meeting of Vance Enterprises commenced.

The atmosphere in the grand conference room was vastly different from the tense, hostile environment of previous weeks. The air felt lighter, charged with a renewed sense of purpose and absolute stability.

Mother and Father were nowhere to be found. Following the release of the Horizon Holdings charter and federal indictments linking their signatures to the cover-up, they had quietly packed their bags and retreated to a secluded, unlisted estate in the south of France, completely stripped of their corporate influence, their social standing, and their illusion of untouchable power.

Camille was currently standing trial in federal court, facing a projected sentence of twenty-five years without the possibility of parole. Her dreams of high-society luxury and effortless manipulation had culminated in a cold concrete cell and an inescapable prison record.

Jonathan and Daniel were locked away in federal holding facilities awaiting joint prosecution on charges of international wire fraud, corporate racketeering, and conspiracy to commit murder.

I stood at the head of the glass conference table, dressed in a crisp, tailored charcoal suit, my posture upright and unyielding.

“As of 9:00 AM this morning,” I announced, my voice carrying cleanly across the room, “all outstanding debt obligations to Aegis Holdings have been legally annulled by federal bankruptcy court rulings, returning one hundred percent of our operational equity back into our direct control.”

The board members burst into spontaneous, genuine applause. For the first time in twelve years, Vance Enterprises truly belonged to the people who had built it through honest labor and unwavering dedication, free from the parasites who had tried to tear it apart.

“Our first order of business,” I continued, smiling warmly at the team of loyal executives who had stood by my side, “is a comprehensive restructuring of our employee profit-sharing program, ensuring that every person who kept this company alive during its darkest hours shares directly in our future success.”

The meeting concluded with unanimous votes across every single resolution.

As the board members filed out of the room, offering respectful nods and words of deep gratitude, I remained standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out over the sprawling metropolis below.

The storm had passed. The empire had been purged of its rot. And for the first time in my life, the horizon stretched out before me—vast, open, and entirely my own.
