Chapter 18 - Ashes to Empire

Six months later, Vance Tower had undergone a complete physical and cultural transformation.

Gone were the cold, intimidating monochromatic tones and the whispered rumors of executive corruption. In their place stood a vibrant, transparent corporate culture built on merit, accountability, and genuine collaboration.

I sat at my desk in the newly redesigned penthouse office, reviewing the end-of-year fiscal statements. Our revenue had increased by forty-three percent, our employee retention rate was at an all-time high, and our government contracts had been extended for another five years.

My personal life, too, had finally found a sense of enduring peace.

Great-Aunt Beatrice—the only member of my extended family who had consistently supported me through the chaos—was now a frequent visitor to the penthouse, bringing homemade pastries and regaling me with sharp, witty observations about high-society gossip.

My parents occasionally sent formal, heavily guarded letters from Europe through their lawyers, pleading for financial assistance or a restoration of their monthly allowances. I instructed my legal team to reject every single request with standard, unfeeling statutory notices. They had made their bed in the quicksand of their own creation; they could lie in it.

As for Camille, federal marshals had transferred her to a maximum-security penitentiary two states away, ensuring she would never again cross paths with the world she had tried so desperately to manipulate.

I closed the financial folder, picked up my coffee cup, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, watching the sunset paint the sky in brilliant shades of amber and violet.

I had survived the betrayal of my family, the corporate raids of hidden enemies, and the calculated deception of a man I had foolishly trusted. I had built an empire from the ashes of a burning house.
