Chapter 13 - The Chessmaster's Counter

Inside the executive suite of Vale Global Holdings, Grant Vale, Sarah Lin, and Eli Thorne stood around the long glass conference table.

"Victor Sterling is far more ruthless and sophisticated than Julian ever was," Sarah warned, displaying a complex financial diagram on the wall monitor. "He controls over four billion dollars in liquid capital through his Swiss fund. If he dumps his massive short position during our public offering while leaking fake human rights allegations against our timber suppliers, our stock will collapse before we can verify the truth."

Grant stood quietly by the window, holding a hot cup of tea, watching the rain hit the glass. "Victor is relying on terror and speed. He wants our institutional investors to panic and dump their shares before doing basic due diligence."

"What is our move, Mr. Vale?" Eli asked eagerly. "Should we delay the public housing share offering?"

Grant turned around, a sharp, brilliant smile touching his lips. "Delay? Absolutely not, Eli. If we delay, Victor will simply adjust his attack timeline. We let him execute his short attack exactly when he planned."

Sarah gasped. "Grant! If we do nothing, our stock valuation could drop by billions in a matter of minutes!"

"I didn’t say we do nothing, Sarah," Grant corrected gently. "Victor believes we rely exclusively on traditional Western banking syndicates. What he doesn’t know is that for the past five years, Vale Global has maintained a private, unencumbered ten-billion-dollar liquidity reserve held directly in sovereign green bonds with the Central Bank of Singapore."

Sarah’s jaw dropped. "Ten billion dollars in liquid reserves?"

"Yes," Grant confirmed smoothly. "When Victor Sterling dumps his synthetic short shares to artificially depress our stock price on opening morning, we won’t panic. We will use our private ten-billion-dollar reserve to buy back every single share Victor dumps on the open market at a massive discount."

Eli’s eyes widened in sheer awe as he grasped the mathematical trap. "If you buy back all his shorted shares, Victor will be caught in a massive short squeeze! He’ll be legally forced to buy the shares back at sky-high prices to cover his open position!"

"Precisely, Eli," Grant smiled proudly at his young protege. "Victor Sterling thinks he’s going to bankrupt Vale Global. Instead, he is going to fund our entire twenty-year affordable housing initiative out of his own pocket."

"What about the fake human rights rumors he plans to leak to the press?" Sarah asked.

"I have already personally invited the Director-General of the International Labor Organization to inspect all our supply chains in person next week," Grant revealed. "When Victor leaks his fake story, the ILO will issue an immediate official refutation, exposing Victor’s fund for market manipulation."

Sarah laughed out loud, deeply impressed by Grant’s total strategic mastery. "It’s a complete execution trap. Victor won’t even see it coming."

"Eli," Grant turned to the young man. "I want you to lead the document verification team coordinating with the Singapore Central Bank. This is your chance to handle real global finance."

Eli stood up tall, his chest swelling with pride. "I’m on it, Mr. Vale! I won’t let you down!"

That evening, Grant met Dr. Maya Lin at Bellwether for dinner.

The restaurant was bustling with warmth. Martin escorted them to Grant’s favorite corner table, where fresh flowers and candlelight awaited them.

Maya looked across the table at Grant, holding his hand gently. "You look focused tonight, Grant. Is everything okay with the new housing project?"

Grant smiled softly, looking into her warm, loving eyes. "Everything is perfectly on track, Maya. In fact, I’m about to ensure that thousands of working families in this city have homes for generations to come."

May you like

"I love how much you care about people, Grant," Maya whispered gently. "You make this world a better place every single day."

Grant squeezed her hand tightly, feeling deeply blessed. The quiet billionaire was ready to show the world that truth always conquers greed.
