Chapter 16 - The Evidence Unleashed

Six months later, on a warm, sun-drenched Saturday afternoon in May, a small private wedding ceremony was held at an historic chapel overlooking Lake Michigan.
The chapel was filled with white roses and warm candlelight. Marla Kline stood as Emily’s maid of honor, while Deputy Marcus Torres—who had flown in specially from Denver—stood proudly as Brian’s best man.
Dani walked down the aisle first, wearing a beautiful light turquoise dress that matched the outfit she had worn on the beach in Miami two years prior. She scattered white rose petals with a huge, radiant smile on her face.
Then came Emily, walking down the aisle in a simple, elegant ivory silk gown.
Brian stood at the altar, looking at her with eyes full of tears and awe. When her hand was placed in his, his grip was firm, warm, and eternal.
The minister smiled at the small gathering of close friends and family. "We are gathered here today not merely to unite two lives, but to celebrate the victory of truth, resilience, and love over darkness and distance."
They exchanged vows they had written themselves—vows that acknowledged the deep pain of the past while claiming the absolute promise of the future.
"I promise to stand by you in the light and in the shadows," Brian spoke, his voice clear and ringing through the chapel. "I promise to never let anything separate us again. I am yours, completely and forever."
"I promise to choose you every single day," Emily replied, her eyes locked with his. "Not because the past was easy, but because our future is worth every single step we took to get here."

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife again," the minister announced with a joyful smile. "You may kiss the bride!"
Brian pulled Emily into his arms and kissed her as the chapel bells began to ring out across the blue waters of Lake Michigan. Everyone in the chapel clapped and cheered, Dani jumping up and down in the front row.
