Chapter 7 - The Conspiracy Unfolds

Back down on the warehouse floor, Ethan was enduring his second week of grueling physical labor when things took a bizarre turn.
Marcus assigned Ethan to inventory audit duty in Sector G, a dimly lit corner of the warehouse where high-end microchips were stored under heavy security.
As Ethan meticulously scanned serial numbers on midnight shift, he noticed a discrepancy-several crates marked as damaged were actually pristine and missing from the system logs.
Before Ethan could investigate further, a pair of heavy boots echoed down the concrete aisle.
Ethan ducked behind a towering stack of wooden crates just as two figures emerged from the shadows.
Even in the dim light, Ethan recognized Victor Vance speaking in a hushed, intense whisper with Marcus, his rough warehouse manager.
'Are you sure the kid isn't paying attention?' Victor demanded quietly, his voice laced with menace.
'Relax, Mr. Vance,' Marcus muttered back. 'He's just an idiot influencer working off a debt. He doesn't know a microchip from a paperweight.'
'Make sure the shipment leaves through Gate Four tonight at midnight,' Victor instructed firmly, handing Marcus a heavy envelope stuffed with cash. 'If anyone interferes, get rid of them.'
Ethan pressed his back against the cold metal shelving, his heart hammering violently against his ribs as sweat beaded on his forehead.
He was witnessing corporate espionage and theft right under his nose. If they caught him hiding here, they wouldn't just fire him-they might kill him.
When the footsteps faded away, Ethan waited three agonizing minutes before sneaking out of Sector G and heading straight for the exit.
He reached his car with shaking hands, staring at his steering wheel as his mind raced with conflicting impulses.
Should he keep his head down, finish his debt, and pretend he saw nothing? Or should he risk everything to expose Victor Vance?
He remembered Antoine's cold, piercing gaze and the way the billionaire had challenged his character back in the penthouse.

For the first time in his life, Ethan realized that being a man wasn't about driving an expensive car-it was about doing the right thing when nobody was watching.
Instead of driving home, Ethan turned his car around and headed back toward the downtown skyscraper of Sterling Technologies.
