Chapter 9 - The Trap Springs Shut

The midnight air outside Gate Four of the Sterling Technologies distribution hub was freezing and damp.

A large heavy-duty transport truck idling by the loading dock hummed quietly, its cargo bay doors open as Marcus and two hired thugs loaded wooden crates filled with stolen microchips.

'Hurry up,' Marcus barked, shining his flashlight into the gloom. 'The police patrol passes by in ten minutes.'

Just as the last crate was secured, the towering security gates of the facility suddenly slammed shut with a resounding metallic crash.

Sirens began to wail across the complex, and blinding floodlights snapped on from every angle, turning the dark parking lot into daylight.

Marcus froze, dropping his flashlight in pure panic as armored corporate security vehicles swarmed the area from all directions, blocking every exit.

From the lead vehicle stepped Antoine Sterling, flanked by Sarah and local law enforcement officers with drawn badges.

Marcus stumbled backward, raising his hands as two security guards tackled him to the asphalt and slapped heavy steel cuffs onto his wrists.

Victor Vance, watching the live security feed from his private home office miles away, smashed his ceramic coffee mug against the wall in absolute rage as his secret operation collapsed in real-time.

Antoine walked slowly toward the back of the transport truck, his expression as cold as ice as he looked down at the arrested warehouse manager.

'Game over, Marcus,' Antoine said quietly.

Standing a few yards away, leaning against a support pillar in his high-visibility vest, Ethan watched the dramatic scene unfold.

Antoine turned his head, locking eyes with Ethan through the glare of the floodlights, and gave him a subtle, respectful nod of acknowledgment.

In that single gesture, Ethan felt a wave of redemption wash over him that no luxury car could ever replicate.

The sting operation was a complete success, but the war inside Sterling Technologies was far from over.

Victor Vance was still at large, and he possessed dangerous leverage that could destroy the company from within if not stopped immediately.
