Chapter 12 - The Fall of the Titans

The global release of the Blackwood Global archives triggered a cataclysmic shockwave that reverberated from Wall Street to the halls of Capitol Hill within minutes. Stock markets plummeted into historic freefall, emergency congressional hearings were convened on live television, and federal law enforcement agencies executed coordinated raids on corporate headquarters, high-end penthouses, and private estates across the country.

In the executive suite of the Sterling Tower, Clara watched the live news feeds with a serene, detached composure. Across the country, corrupt politicians were shown being led out of government buildings in handcuffs, while top-tier executives scrambled to delete emails as federal agents kicked down their office doors.

"It's working," Julian said, setting a fresh cup of coffee down on Clara's desk as he watched a live broadcast of the Department of Justice issuing arrest warrants for half the corporate board of directors. "The entire syndicate is collapsing under its own weight. Within forty-eight hours, every single individual who had a hand in your parents' deaths and your family's destruction will be behind bars."

Clara took a slow sip of her coffee, her eyes reflecting the glowing red tickers of crashing financial markets. "It's not enough just to arrest them, Julian. Arrests are temporary. What we need is systemic eradication. Every single asset, every shell company, every offshore account linked to Blackwood and the corrupt Sterling factions must be permanently seized and redirected into public restitution."

The secure intercom on her desk buzzed sharply. Clara pressed the speaker button.

"Miss Sterling," the head of her private security detail reported, his voice tense and urgent. "We have an unannounced visitor in the lobby demanding immediate access to the executive suite. Refuses to give his name, but claims he has information regarding the final missing piece of the Blackwood syndicate—the shadow investor who funded the entire operation from behind the scenes."

Clara and Julian exchanged a sharp, knowing glance. "Send him up," Clara commanded coldly. "And make sure our tactical team is stationed outside the elevator doors."

Three minutes later, the private elevator chime chimed softly. The heavy glass doors slid open to reveal a tall, silver-haired man in an impeccably tailored black cashmere overcoat. He walked forward with an unhurried, arrogant stride, leaning heavily on an ebony cane tipped with a silver wolf's head.

It was Victor Sterling—Clara’s great-uncle, a man long believed to have died in a mysterious private plane crash in the Swiss Alps thirty years ago.

Victor stopped ten feet away from Clara’s desk, leaning on his cane, a cold, knowing smile playing across his weathered, aristocratic lips. "Hello, little cleaning lady," Victor said, his voice smooth as silk and twice as venomous. "Did you really think a few federal warrants and leaked files would be enough to kill a dynasty like ours?"
