Chapter 17 - The Global Stage

Following the conclusion of the federal trials, Northstar Capital completed its absorption of the restructured Vance properties, integrating them into a gleaming international portfolio now known globally as Solstice Hospitality. The company’s market valuation skyrocketed, cementing my position not just as a successful entrepreneur, but as a dominant force in international finance.

It was a breezy spring afternoon in London. I stood on the grand balcony of our newly acquired European headquarters overlooking the River Thames, reviewing final drafts of our next major expansion into Asian markets. Mara stepped out onto the balcony, handing me a fresh cup of espresso and an embossed invitation.

“The London Financial Summit committee wants you to deliver the keynote address next month,” Mara said, smiling warmly. “They’re dedicating the entire opening session to your strategies on corporate governance and resilience against hostile takeovers.”

I took the invitation, running my fingers over the elegant gold-pressed lettering. “Resilience is just a polite word for refusing to be broken, Mara.”

“Well, you certainly broke the mold,” Mara chuckled, leaning against the stone railing. “By the way, the viral video from your wedding finally took home an ironic internet culture award for ‘Most Satisfying Downfall of a Villain’ in an annual social media retrospective.”

I laughed softly, shaking my head. “People love a story where the person who was supposed to be crushed turns around and rebuilds the entire chessboard.”

“Because most people spend their whole lives waiting for someone to save them,” Mara said quietly, looking at me with deep admiration. “You didn’t wait. You picked up your phone, canceled the wire, and built an empire out of the ashes.”

My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a notification from a secure financial news alert: *Solstice Hospitality shares hit an all-time high following successful Asian market entry.*

I locked the screen and slipped the phone back into my pocket, looking out over the endless expanse of the London skyline, knowing that every single brick of my life was placed by my own hands.
