Chapter 12 - Unraveling the Web

The forensic data recovered from Victoria's hidden flash drives opened up a Pandora's box of dark secrets. Seated in the local precinct interrogation room, Detective Marcus Vance laid out the digital evidence across the metallic table before Richard, Clara, and Liam.
"It goes much deeper than corporate embezzlement and poisoning," Marcus explained, tapping a stylus against a tablet screen displaying encrypted chat logs. "Victoria wasn't acting alone. She had an accomplice inside the medical facility who altered your post-op prescriptions, Mr. Sterling. And look at these financial wires—they trace directly to an overseas account managed by your former business partner, Julian Cross.
Clara gasped, pressing a hand to her mouth. "Julian Cross? But Julian died in a yacht explosion five years ago!"

"That's what he wanted everyone to believe," Marcus replied grimly. "Our intelligence suggests Julian faked his death, took half the company's capital, and partnered with Victoria to bankrupt your family from the inside out. And with Victoria arrested tonight, Julian is going to panic—and make a move."
As if on cue, Liam's phone buzzed violently on the table. He picked it up, staring at an incoming text message from an unknown number containing a single image: a live surveillance feed of Clara's private apartment, with a timer counting down from ten minutes.
