Chapter 13 - Race Against the Clock

"We have to move, now!" Liam shouted, springing to his feet and grabbing his car keys from the table. The image on his phone was clear: someone had broken into Clara's downtown loft, and explosive devices were clearly visible taped to the main support columns.
Richard stood up, his face pale with panic. "Take my armored sedan in the underground garage. It has encrypted satellite comms and reinforced plating."
Within minutes, Liam was speeding through the rain-slicked city streets, his foot pressed hard against the accelerator. Clara sat in the passenger seat, gripping the dashboard handle as her breathing grew shallow. The adrenaline of the pool incident was catching up to her, but her fighting spirit remained unbroken.

"Liam, if Julian is behind this, he knows we're coming. This is a trap," Clara warned, her eyes darting across the dark, neon-lit skyline.
"Then it's a trap we're going to spring on our own terms," Liam replied coldly, spinning the steering wheel into the underground alleyway behind Clara's apartment building. The rain poured down in sheets as they killed the headlights, slipping silently into the service elevator that led directly up to the penthouse loft.
