Chapter 11 - The Trust Fund Clause

While the federal trap was being laid for Vanguard, a quiet legal battle unfolded in New York Family Court regarding Adrian Cole’s remaining personal trust funds. Before our marriage, Adrian had insisted on signing a prenuptial agreement—believing it would protect his future earnings.

What Adrian’s arrogant legal team failed to notice was Clause 14b, inserted personally by my father’s counsel: *Any financial misconduct or breach of marital fidelity committed by the primary signatory results in the immediate forfeiture of all prenuptial protections.*

I sat across from Judge Aris Thorne as Adrian’s public defender tried to argue the agreement was unconscionable.

“Mr. Cole drafted the agreement himself, Counselor,” Judge Thorne interrupted dryly. “All personal accounts and assets are hereby transferred in full to Evelyn Grant-Cole.”

I nodded, gathered my folders, and walked out of the courtroom into a wall of camera flashes.
