Chapter 4 - The Frozen Assets

By sunrise, the corporate restructuring of Halcyon Dynamics was fully underway. Marcus Vance and his legal team executed emergency injunctions across all of Adrian’s personal holdings. Swiss bank accounts, Cayman Island shell companies, Manhattan penthouses—all frozen under court order.
I stood on the balcony of the Halcyon penthouse overlooking the New York skyline, sipping black coffee as the morning light broke through the clouds. My phone buzzed continuously with notifications from financial news outlets and frantic text messages from acquaintances who had witnessed the disaster online.
The internet had already christened the scandal 'The Halcyon Humiliation.' Within twelve hours, social media platforms were flooded with memes of Adrian cornered by my father, Vanessa’s smudged lipstick, and my dramatic fall from the stage. Public sympathy was overwhelmingly on my side.
The penthouse study door opened, and my father walked out, holding two steaming mugs. He handed one to me and leaned against the glass railing.
“You handled that with remarkable poise yesterday, Evie,” Dad said softly, looking out at the city. “I was worried the fall would hurt you more than you let on.”
“My shoulder is bruised, but my resolve is unbreakable,” I replied, taking a sip of the bitter coffee. “Though watching his face collapse when you walked through those curtains was worth every second of the last eighteen months.”
“Eighteen months of silence wasn't easy,” Dad sighed. “Watching him parade around like he owned the empire I built... it tested every ounce of my patience. But you were right. If we moved too early, his legal team would have tied us up in court for years.”
“He thought he was untouchable,” I murmured. “He thought because I stepped away from the board foundation, I had become powerless. He forgot that a Grant never truly leaves the board table.”
“Speaking of the board,” Dad smiled gently. “The emergency meeting is at ten o'clock. They are voting unanimously on the new CEO.”

I turned to look at him. “Who?”
“You, Evelyn,” Dad said proudly. “It’s time to take back your throne.”
