Chapter 17 - The Race Against the Code

While Victor stood gloating loudly about his impending global triumph, Leo silently slipped away from the main confrontation line, dropping low behind a massive bank of glowing server racks.
His fingers flew furiously across a portable diagnostic tablet he had smuggled inside his tactical vest, trying desperately to interface with the warehouse’s local area network.
The terminal screen flashed warning errors in harsh crimson text: *'Access Denied. Biometric Security Lock Engaged.'*
Across the raised platform, Victor raised his thumb menacingly over the red detonation button, his smile widening with maniacal glee.
‘Say a final goodbye to your family legacy, Julian!’
Suddenly, the warehouse overhead lights flickered violently, and a sharp, automated female voice chimed unexpectedly from the server speakers:
*'Override accepted. Administrator privilege successfully transferred to Leo Vance.'*
Jessica Vance had hacked into the system remotely from her home computer using the secret back-door credentials she downloaded before fleeing her father’s estate, successfully bypassing Victor’s biometric lock right at the eleventh hour.

The main server racks sparked furiously and powered down in a cascading wave of automated system resets.
Victor’s remote detonator blinked red once and went completely dead, its wireless signal jammed by the counter-protocol.
