Chapter 9: Digital Warfare and Dirty Secrets

Deep into the night, the basement war room of Raven Lake Lodge hummed with the glow of half a dozen high-resolution monitors. Daniel’s fingers flew across mechanical keyboards, decrypting encrypted financial ledgers and municipal backdoor servers seized through a network of confidential informants and former military intelligence contacts.
Ethan stood behind him, sipping black coffee, watching data stream down the screens. "Is there really enough here to take Vance down?"
"More than enough," Daniel said without looking up, tapping a final keystroke. A massive digital folder popped up, laden with offshore bank accounts, bribed city councilmen receipts, and falsified environmental impact reports for the historical district. "Vance thought he was untouchable because he owns half the local politicians. But he made one critical mistake: he used digital wire transfers for his kickbacks instead of cash."
Jack walked into the room, holding a steaming mug of black coffee. He leaned over the console, reviewing the summarized reports. A cold, satisfied smile touched the corners of his mouth.
"He thinks he can play corporate chess," Jack said softly, his voice like grinding stones. "He forgets where he came from."
"What's our next move?" Ethan asked. "Do we go to the police?"
"Local police are on Vance's payroll," Frank replied, stepping out of the shadows. "If we hand this to the precinct captain, it’ll end up in a shredder before morning. We have to go higher. Federal prosecutors. State tax auditors. And..." Frank grinned grimly "...public exposure."
Jack straightened up, his eyes locking onto Ethan's. "We aren't just going to legally dismantle his company, Ethan. We're going to strike at the root of his power. Tomorrow morning, Vance is holding a public city council gala to announce his new commercial development project—right over the land where Carter's Roadhouse and your mother's neighborhood sit."

Ethan's eyes widened. "And we're going?"
"We aren't just going," Jack said, slipping his heavy silver chain and wolf pendant back around his neck with a decisive snap. "We're going to crash his party."
