Chapter 17 - Return to the Marble Gates

The following day, a solemn private ceremony was held in the capital of Karsova. A majestic marble memorial monument was unveiled in the central square, dedicated to King Adrian, Queen Helena, and the brave citizens who had lost their lives during the coup.

Thousands of citizens gathered in respectful silence as Mara, accompanied by Grant and General Vasko, placed a wreath of white roses at the base of the monument.

Engraved upon the marble pedestal were the timeless words Queen Helena had spoken to Mara eight years earlier:

'TRUTH IS A LIGHT THAT NO DARKNESS CAN EVER EXTINGUISH.'

As Mara stood before the monument, a gentle mountain breeze swept across the square, lifting the petals of the white roses and carrying them toward the open sky. She closed her eyes, feeling the warm, comforting presence of her parents in her heart, knowing that their legacy was finally honored and secure.

Grant wrapped his arm around her shoulders, offering steady strength as they stood together in silent tribute.
