Chapter 19 - THE WHISPERS OF TOMORROW

That evening, Nathan and I walked through the rose garden at sunset. The blossoms were vibrant, healthy, and untainted by poison or malice. The air smelled of sweet earth and blooming jasmine.

"You know," Nathan said, breaking the quiet as we paused by the central fountain, "when I first bought your trust debt, I honestly thought I was walking into a war zone."

"You were," I replied, turning to face him. "You just didn't realize you were walking onto the winning side."

Nathan smiled, stepping a fraction closer. The space between us hummed with a quiet, undeniable tension—one born not of corporate leverage or forced alliances, but of mutual respect and hard-won trust.

"I suppose I did," he murmured. "Though I have to admit... I kind of like how dangerous you are."

"Keep that in mind before you ever try to cross me in a boardroom," I teased lightly, though my eyes lingered on his.
