Chapter 15 - The Geneva Confrontation

The Swiss Alps were shrouded in white snow, their majestic peaks piercing through thick gray winter clouds.
Nestled on a cliffside overlooking Lake Geneva stood the Sovereign Chateau—a heavily fortified estate built in the 18th century, serving as the international headquarters for the Apex Consortium.
A heavy blizzard was howling across the mountain pass. Inside the Chateau's opulent private library, warm fire crackled in a massive stone fireplace.
Sitting in a leather wheelchair by the window was Director Nicholas Sterling. He was nearly eighty years old, dressed in a pristine wool suit, an oxygen cannula resting gently under his nose. Despite his frail physical appearance, his dark eyes burned with intense, sharp intellect—the mind that had orchestrated covert global events for nearly half a century.
The heavy double doors of the library swung open.
Marcus Carter walked into the room, dressed in a dark winter coat, covered in snow. Alongside him walked Liam, carrying a heavy metallic case containing the Apex Quantum Drive.
Behind them, Knox and two trusted international operatives held Sarah Sterling in custody, her wrists bound.
Director Sterling didn't flinch. He slowly turned his wheelchair to face the intruders, taking a calm sip of red wine from a crystal glass.
"Welcome to Geneva, Marcus," Nicholas said, his voice raspy but steady. "And welcome to you, Liam. It has been many years since a Carter stepped foot in this room."
"It ends today, Nicholas," Marcus said, stepping into the center of the library, his hand resting near his holster. "I brought your daughter back to you unharmed. Now you step down, surrender the master network codes, and disband the Apex Consortium."
Nicholas let out a soft, dry laugh that turned into a brief coughing fit. "Disband the Consortium? Oh, Marcus... you always had such a naive understanding of power. We are not a company. We are not a brand. We are the invisible architecture that keeps human civilization from descending into complete chaos."
"You are a cabal of criminals who profit off war, famine, and financial corruption," Liam said angrily, stepping forward. "You ruined my family's life for five years!"
Nicholas looked at Liam with a cold, condescending smile. "Young man, look around the world. Without our unseen hand managing energy markets, currency values, and defense contracts, nations would be at each other's throats every decade. We create controlled fires to prevent global infernos."
"You create fires so you can sell the water, Nicholas," Marcus corrected fiercely. "I helped you build the foundation twenty-five years ago, and it is the greatest regret of my life. But today, I clean my slate."
Liam set the heavy metallic case on the center table, popping open the steel latches. Inside rested the glowing silver Apex Quantum Drive, connected to an advanced satellite relay device.
"What is that?" Sarah Sterling asked from behind, her eyes widening in realization. "Father... what is he doing?"
"This drive contains every single financial asset, every offshore ledger, and every private communication log of the Apex Consortium," Marcus declared. "And right now, it is uplinked to a global satellite network."
Nicholas’s eyes narrowed slightly. "You wouldn't dare. If you broadcast that data, you will collapse global banking markets! Millions of ordinary people will lose their savings!"
"Not if we execute a targeted liquidation," Liam revealed, stepping up to the cipher terminal. "I’ve rewritten the core algorithm over the last forty-eight hours. We aren't deleting the wealth, Director Sterling. We are redirecting the entire fifty-billion-dollar Apex Reserve into sovereign public infrastructure funds, green energy development, and international humanitarian trusts across sixty nations."
Nicholas stood up from his wheelchair, his body trembling with raw fury, his calm facade shattering completely. "You fools! You will destroy the world order!"
"No," Marcus said, looking Nicholas dead in the eye. "We are giving the world back to its people."
"Kill them!" Nicholas screamed, pointing a trembling finger at Marcus. "Execute them all!"
Suddenly, four hidden panel doors in the library walls slid open!
Eight elite Apex Honor Guards, dressed in high-tech body armor, stepped into the room with weapons raised!

"Down!" Marcus roared, drawing his weapon as the library erupted into chaos!
