Hidden inside an old sewing box Evelyn had given her years earlier was a memory card.
On it were photographs of Blackwood payments, messages between Eleanor and Dr. Hale, and one audio recording.
Eleanor's voice:
“Keep her there until the trust situation is resolved.”
Dr. Hale replied:
“That could take years.”
Eleanor:
“Then it takes years.”
The recording changed the case.
This was no misunderstanding.
