Chapter 17 - THE HOUSE WITHOUT PORTRAITS

Thomas returned to the Whitmore estate alone.
He removed every formal family portrait from the main hallway.
Not destroyed.
Stored.
He left one photograph.
Evelyn holding infant Malik.
When Arthur arrived, he noticed.
“You're changing things.”
Thomas looked around.
“I spent my entire life thinking preserving a family meant preserving its image.”
Arthur waited.
Thomas continued.
“I was wrong.”
“What does it mean?”
“Protecting the people in it.”
Arthur nodded.
