Chapter 24 - THE JOHNSON NECKLACE

Arthur restored Evelyn's pendant himself.
The chain had been damaged.
He replaced it carefully.
Then he gave it back.
Evelyn shook her head.
“It belongs to Malik now.”
Arthur smiled.
“He's two.”
“He already used it better than I ever did.”
Arthur laughed softly.
The necklace had done exactly what Evelyn hoped.
It had led Malik home.
Arthur knelt and placed it gently around his grandson's neck.
Malik touched the pendant.
“Papa Arthur?”
Arthur froze.
Evelyn smiled.
“He's been practicing.”
Arthur's eyes filled with tears.
“Yes, little man.”

Malik hugged him.
