Chapter 16 - The Tribunal of the Underworld

Deep beneath the financial district of Zurich, inside a secure underground vault lined with steel and reinforced concrete, the supreme council of the Crown syndicate had convened for their annual plenary session. Capos and regional directors from London, Tokyo, Geneva, and New York sat around an oval obsidian table, speaking in hushed tones as they awaited my arrival.

I stepped through the biometric airlock, dressed in a sharp black bespoke suit, my silver signet ring catching the harsh fluorescent glare. Every man at the table stood up instantly, bowing their heads in absolute reverence.

"Sit," I commanded, taking my seat at the head of the table.

Marcus stood beside me, projecting satellite data across the holographic display screen. "The northeastern expansion is complete. All domestic regional factions have been neutralized. Financial stability across North American shipping corridors has increased by fourteen percent following the liquidation of Sterling Capital’s illegal assets."

"Are there any dissenting voices?" I asked, scanning the council.

"None, Ghost King," spoke Salvatore, the regional director for Southern Europe, bowing his head lower. "Your authority is absolute across all three continents. The world knows that to cross the Crown is to invite swift and final annihilation."

"Good," I said quietly, leaning forward. "Maintain surveillance on all international transit routes. But remember this: our true strength lies not in the territory we conquer, but in the peace we protect at home."

The council nodded in silent agreement, fully cognizant that the most feared warlord in the global underworld was also a devoted husband who simply wanted to drink tea by the fireplace with his wife.
