Chapter 11 - The Inheritance War

Grant's death triggered a sudden, explosive legal war. Within forty-eight hours of his passing, a secret, illegitimate daughter Grant had fathered years ago—a ruthless thirty-year-old corporate attorney named Victoria Sterling (the estranged niece of billionaire Arthur Sterling)—filed an emergency injunction in Manhattan probate court.
Victoria claimed that as Grant’s sole surviving biological heir, she was legally entitled to his entire estate, including all offshore accounts, digital keys, and intellectual property registered in his name.
"She's playing dirty," Martin Greer reported during an emergency meeting at Evelyn's brownstone. "Victoria Sterling is backed by her uncle's massive legal team. They know about the Zurich vault key Grant gave you. They're claiming Grant was under heavy medication and lack of mental capacity when he handed that key to Gabriel, making the transfer illegal!"
"If Victoria gets her hands on that Zurich vault," Gabriel said, gripping the edge of the desk, "she'll destroy the dossier to protect her family's reputation, and my father's name will remain tarnished forever!"
Evelyn sat at her desk, her eyes cold and sharp. She stood up, smoothing her navy blazer. "Victoria Sterling thinks she can bully us because she has a law degree and her uncle's money. She forgets that I spent nine years surviving political sharks far bigger than her."
"What's the plan, Evelyn?" Harold asked, leaning against the wall.
"We don't wait for the Manhattan probate judge to rule on her injunction," Evelyn said decisively. "The Swiss bank operates under international private banking law, not New York state jurisdiction. The authorization key Grant gave us is biometric. We fly to Zurich tonight."

"It's a race," Martin said, smiling thin. "Victoria has already booked a private jet to Switzerland leaving at midnight."
"Then we catch the 9:00 PM commercial flight," Evelyn declared. "And we make sure we arrive at that bank door before she even clears customs."
