Chapter 12 - Night over Zurich

The flight across the Atlantic was intense and silent. Evelyn and Gabriel sat side by side in the quiet cabin, reviewing the biometric protocols required by the Swiss Private Bank. Harold Finch sat two rows behind them, monitoring Victoria Sterling’s private flight trajectory via satellite tracking software on his laptop.
"Victoria's private jet just encountered severe winter storm delays over the North Atlantic," Harold reported, leaning forward between their seats. "They've been rerouted to land in Frankfurt for refueling. That gives us a three-hour window of opportunity when we land in Zurich."
Gabriel turned to Evelyn, taking her hand gently in his. "Evelyn, if this dossier clears my father's name, I want to use Croft's forty million dollars in offshore assets to build an endowment for your foundation. We can help thousands of women and families rebuild their lives."
Evelyn looked into Gabriel's eyes, feeling a deep, profound connection. "Let's win this race first, Gabriel."
At 7:00 AM Swiss time, their plane touched down through a heavy blanket of white snow at Zurich International Airport. Harold had a high-speed Mercedes sedan waiting for them outside the terminal.
They sped through the picturesque, snow-covered streets of Zurich, pulling up to the towering, imposing granite building of the Swiss Private Bank on Bahnhofstrasse street.
Inside, the bank was a marble vault of silence, discretion, and old European wealth. A senior bank director in a sharp black suit escorted Evelyn, Gabriel, and Harold into a subterranean security elevator that descended three floors below ground level.
They stopped before a massive reinforced titanium vault door.
"Vault 408," the director announced in a polite, accented voice. "To access the contents, we require the physical silver key, followed by the encrypted digital key, and a voice authentication match from the designated trustee."
Gabriel handed the silver key to the director, who inserted it into the heavy mechanical lock. Then Harold plugged the encrypted USB drive into the biometric terminal. A green laser scanner activated, scanning the drive's data lines.
System Alert: Biometric Voice Authentication Required.
Gabriel stepped forward to speak, but Harold suddenly grabbed his arm. "Wait! Look at the terminal screen!"
May you like
Evelyn leaned in close. Displayed on the digital screen in tiny red text was a hidden secondary trap code programmed into the vault's software.
"It's a poison-pill program," Harold whispered in shock. "Grant didn't just design this vault for storage. If anyone other than Evelyn Alden speaks into that voice terminal, the digital contents of the vault will be instantly wiped forever!"
