Chapter 17 - The Circle Closes

Camila looked pale, wearing simple jeans and a practical sweater, far removed from the high-heeled party dress she had worn at the Westchester mansion.

"Ms. Vance?" Camila asked nervously, her voice trembling slightly.

Evelyn gestured for her security detail to step back. "Camila. I haven't seen you since that night."

Camila wiped a tear from her cheek. "I... I saw the news about your foundation on television. After Grant was arrested, his political friends harassed me, ruined my job opportunities, and tried to blame me for his mess. I was terrified. I have a three-year-old daughter, and I had nowhere else to turn for legal help."

Evelyn looked at the little girl, who was smiling shyly up at her. Then she looked at Camila. There was no anger or jealousy in Evelyn’s heart—only understanding. Camila had been just another young woman exploited by Grant’s lies.

"You don't need to be afraid anymore, Camila," Evelyn said gently, taking her by the hand. "You're in the right place now. Our legal team will protect you, clear your record, and help you find permanent housing and job training."

Camila broke down in tears, dropping to her knees and holding Evelyn's hand tightly. "Thank you... thank you so much! I was so wrong about you!"

Evelyn helped her stand up, smiling softly. "We've all been lied to by powerful men, Camila. What matters is how we help each other stand back up."

Evelyn assigned her top staff attorney to handle Camila's case personally.

As Evelyn walked through the sunlit lobby of the center, Gabriel joined her side, wrapping his hand around hers. "You have a remarkable heart, Evelyn."

"Justice isn't just about punishing the guilty, Gabriel," Evelyn said, looking back at Camila and her daughter. "It's about restoring the innocent."
