Chapter 19 - The Wedding on the Hudson

On a breathtaking, crisp September afternoon, Evelyn Vance and Gabriel Thorne were married.

The wedding took place on the sweeping lawn of Evelyn’s newly redeveloped waterfront park along the Hudson River—the very land Senator Croft and Grant Alden had once tried to steal from her. Now, it was a gorgeous public park filled with vibrant gardens, open stone walkways, and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.

The ceremony was intimate, attended by their closest friends, including Martin Greer, Harold Finch, and many of the women Evelyn's foundation had helped.

Evelyn walked down the flower-lined aisle wearing a stunning, custom white lace gown with a long cathedral veil. Her father’s oldest friend, Martin Greer, proudly walked her down the aisle, tears of joy in his eyes.

Gabriel stood at the altar beneath a canopy of white roses, looking at Evelyn with pure, unadulterated adoration.

They exchanged handwritten vows beneath the bright blue autumn sky.

"Evelyn," Gabriel spoke, his voice filled with deep emotion. "You showed me that out of the greatest heartbreak and betrayal, a human heart can emerge stronger, kinder, and more magnificent than ever. I promise to stand beside you as your partner, your protector, your biggest fan, and your equal for all the days of my life."

Evelyn looked into his eyes, holding his hands tightly. "Gabriel, you taught me how to trust again. You showed me what genuine love, respect, and honor truly look like. I give you my heart, my hand, and my life, unconditionally and forever."

"By the power vested in me," the officiant announced with a bright smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Gabriel, you may kiss your bride!"

Gabriel drew Evelyn into his arms and kissed her deeply as the guests cheered, clapped, and tossed white rose petals into the air.
