Chapter 13 - The New Horizon

Six months later, the spring sun bathed the Manhattan skyline in a warm, golden glow.

The annual Halcyon Global Gala was underway in the grand ballroom of the flagship hotel—the very same room where Adrian’s disastrous wedding reception had abruptly turned into a broadcasted catastrophe.

This time, however, the atmosphere was entirely different. There was no tension, no deceit, no hidden agendas—only celebration, elegance, and unyielding success.

I stood on the central dais, wearing a breathtaking floor-length emerald silk gown that shimmered under the crystal chandeliers. My hair was styled in soft waves falling over my shoulders, and my posture radiated effortless power and grace.

Four hundred industry leaders, international investors, and philanthropic partners stood applauding as I concluded my keynote address.

“Halcyon Hotels is more than a hospitality brand,” my voice resonated clearly through the grand hall. “It is a testament to resilience, integrity, and the belief that true strength is built not on control, but on empowerment. Thank you all for believing in our vision.”

A thunderous ovation erupted across the ballroom. Glass clinked against glass as guests raised their flutes in toast.

I stepped down from the dais, smiling warmly as colleagues and partners rushed forward to offer congratulations.

My father, Julian Ward, stood near the VIP lounge, holding a glass of sparkling water, his eyes shining with unmasked paternal pride.

I walked over to join him, slipping my arm through his.

“You knocked it out of the park, sweetheart,” Julian beamed, kissing my cheek gently. “Your mother would have been speechless.”

“Thank you, Dad,” I smiled, looking around the vibrant, joyful room. “It feels good to finally see Halcyon thriving the way it was always meant to.”

“Speaking of thriving,” Julian murmured with a subtle, knowing smirk, nodding toward the private reception foyer, “you have a visitor waiting for you in your private study. Someone who insisted on congratulating you in person.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Who is it? Another board member?”

“Go see for yourself,” Julian chuckled softly.

Intrigued, I excused myself from the group and walked quietly down the private hallway leading to the executive suites.

The door to my private study was ajar, casting a warm, golden shaft of light across the polished hardwood floor.

I pushed the door open.

Standing by the window, looking out over the glittering night view of Central Park, was a tall, elegant figure in a bespoke navy suit.

He turned around as I entered.

It wasn't a board member. It wasn't an investor.

It was Marcus Vance—not the CEO Marcus, but Marcus Sterling, the brilliant international acquisitions director who had spent the past six months quietly restructuring our European portfolio alongside Arthur.

He held a single white rose in his hand, offering a warm, confident smile that made my heart skip a fraction of a beat.
