Chapter 18 - The Rogue Son’s Revenge

The news broadcast flashed a terrifying red emergency banner across the screen:

*BREAKING NEWS: ARMED ESCAPE AT METROPOLITAN DETENTION CONVOY. CONVICTED CORPORATE SABOTEUR JULIAN BROOKS AT LARGE. ARMED AND DANGEROUS.*

According to federal reports, a heavily armed mercenary squad working for a rogue overseas faction of Apex Global had ambushed the federal prison transport van on Interstate 90, killing two guards and extracting Julian Brooks.

Inside Harold’s lakeside cottage, the atmosphere turned deadly serious.

Within twenty minutes, four tactical security vehicles carrying Donald Vance and elite executive protection agents arrived at the property, establishing an armed defensive perimeter.

"Mr. Brooks, Ethan," Donald Vance said, his face pale and tense. "Federal intelligence indicates Julian has obtained black-market biometric credentials and high-grade explosives. He blames both of you for his downfall. We are evacuating you to a military safe house in Colorado immediately."

"No," Ethan said firmly, stepping forward.

Donald Vance stared at the teenager. "Ethan, this isn't a corporate negotiation. Julian is clinically unhinged. He has nothing left to lose."

"Think about who Julian is," Ethan argued, his mind racing with sharp analytical clarity. "Julian doesn't care about hiding in South America. His entire identity was tied to his ego and his hatred for his father’s legacy. If he’s going to strike, he’s not coming to this cottage. He’s going to where it all began."

Harold’s eyes widened with sudden, terrifying realization. "Terminal Three."

"Tonight is the grand unveiling of the Evelyn Brooks Memorial Concourse at Terminal Three," Ethan said, his heart pounding. "Over ten thousand passengers and fifty international airline executives will be inside. If Julian wants revenge, he will try to destroy the very symbol of his father's compassion."

Harold stood up, his cane striking the floor with thunderous resolve.

"Donald, assemble our entire security detail," Harold commanded. "We are going to Terminal Three."

"Sir, it's too dangerous!" Vance pleaded.

"That is my airport, Donald!" Harold roared with the fury of a lion. "I will not hide in a bunker while my passengers and my employees are in danger! We fly to Chicago right now!"

Thirty minutes later, the executive helicopter lifted off into the stormy night sky, racing toward the glittering lights of Horizon International Airport.
