Chapter 19 - Midnight at Terminal Three

Terminal Three was illuminated in breathtaking sapphire and gold lights for the grand opening of the Evelyn Brooks Memorial Concourse. Giant digital banners displayed photographs of Evelyn Brooks and quotes celebrating frontline workers. Thousands of travelers walked beneath the soaring glass arches, enjoying free live orchestral music, hot cocoa, and festive celebrations.

Yet beneath the joyful surface, a silent nightmare was unfolding.

At 10:45 PM, a disguised catering maintenance truck bypassed the perimeter security gate using stolen biometric override codes. Julian Brooks, dressed in a tactical black uniform with a heavy ballistic vest, stepped out of the vehicle in the underground service tunnels beneath Gate 14.

Behind him were four heavily armed mercenaries carrying military-grade C4 explosive packages.

"Plant charges on the four primary structural support columns beneath the central glass dome," Julian whispered coldly into his tactical comms. "Set the remote detonators for fifteen minutes. When that glass ceiling collapses, the entire terminal will cave in."

"What about the people above, boss?" one mercenary asked.

Julian’s eyes burned with madness. "Let them die with my father's pathetic dream."

Meanwhile, on the rooftop helipad, Harold’s helicopter touched down amidst heavy rain. Ethan, Harold, Claire Morgan, and Donald Vance sprinted toward the executive elevator.

"Donald, initiate a silent Code Red terminal evacuation immediately," Ethan urged. "Don't trigger the general fire sirens—it will cause a deadly stampede of ten thousand people. Use the automated gate redirection protocols to guide passengers out through Terminals One and Two."

"Understood!" Vance responded, immediately mobilizing two hundred airport security officers and federal marshals.

Ethan pulled up the real-time architectural sensor grid on his tablet.

"Look," Ethan pointed to the screen. "Sub-Level 2, Column Grid Delta beneath Gate 14. The thermal sensors show four unauthorized heat signatures moving toward the structural foundation!"

"That’s right beneath where I collapsed," Harold whispered, his face pale with horror. "He wants to destroy the exact spot where we met."

Ethan grabbed a heavy tactical flashlight and a security master pass.

"Ethan, no! You cannot go down there alone!" Claire cried, grabbing his arm.

"I know those tunnels better than anyone, Claire," Ethan said, looking into her eyes with fearless resolve. "The SWAT teams are five minutes away, but the timers could be set for three. I have to disarm those charges."

Harold stepped forward, placing both hands on Ethan’s shoulders.

"Go, my brave son," Harold whispered, tears in his eyes. "May God protect you."

Ethan turned and sprinted down the emergency stairwell, plunging into the dark underground labyrinth of Terminal Three.
