Chapter 18 - The Gala Of The Century

Six months after the dust settled, Vale North Holdings hosted the annual Philanthropic Vanguard Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York City—an event universally dubbed by the financial press as the 'Gala of the Century.'

The grand ballroom glittered with thousands of imported crystals, white orchids, and cascading fairy lights. The elite of Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and European aristocracy mingled in designer gowns and bespoke tuxedos, all eager to pay homage to the undisputed queen of global enterprise.

I stood at the top of the grand marble staircase, wearing a breathtaking gown of hand-stitched silver silk encrusted with diamonds that caught every beam of light. Beside me stood Julian Vance, looking impeccably handsome in a tailored midnight-blue tuxedo.

'Ready to face the world, Your Majesty?' Julian whispered playfully, offering me his arm.

'I've never been more ready, Julian,' I replied, resting my hand securely on his arm.

As we descended the grand staircase together, the murmurs in the ballroom quieted, replaced by sweeping applause as hundreds of guests turned to watch us enter. Flashbulbs popped from every angle, capturing the absolute pinnacle of our triumph.

During the opening toast, Thomas Vance took the podium, raising his champagne glass high. 'Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we celebrate not just the resilience of Vale North Holdings, but the extraordinary leadership of a woman who turned betrayal into a masterclass of corporate sovereignty—our Chairperson, Catherine Vance!'

The room erupted into roaring applause and standing ovations. I stepped up to the microphone, looking out across the sea of powerful faces—investors, allies, and global leaders who respected the iron will beneath my calm exterior.

'Thank you,' I began, my voice clear, resonant, and unwavering, echoing softly through the magnificent ballroom. 'True power is never given; it is forged in the fires of adversity. When the world tries to break your spirit, remember that you hold the pen, the signatures, and the future. Never let anyone make you forget your place—because your place is at the very top.'

The applause that followed shook the crystal chandeliers overhead. It was a night of pure, unadulterated victory.
