Inheritance of Vengeance

Three months later, the corporate restructuring of Sterling Global Logistics was featured on the front page of every major financial newspaper in the country. To solidify our absolute transparency and wipe away the stain of Julian and Viktor's corruption, I agreed to a live, prime-time television interview on Global Financial News with veteran anchor Harrison Reed.

The bright studio lights beat down as Harrison sat across from me in the plush leather armchairs, looking serious and professional.

'Welcome back, Ms. Sterling,' Harrison said into his microphone as the red live recording light blinked on the camera. 'Three months ago, your company faced what many analysts called an insurmountable corporate takeover and embezzlement scandal involving your former husband, Julian Vance, and hedge fund titan Viktor Vance. Today, Sterling Global Logistics is more profitable and secure than ever. How did you survive the storm?'%

I looked directly into the camera lens, knowing that somewhere in a federal holding facility, Julian was watching on a grainy television screen.

'My father taught me a very important lesson before he passed away,' I answered, my voice steady, calm, and resonant. 'Arrogant men believe that patience is a sign of weakness. They mistake a woman's silence for surrender because they cannot imagine discipline as a weapon.'%

Harrison nodded approvingly. 'And what message do you have for other corporate leaders who might find themselves facing betrayal from within their own inner circle?'%

'Never panic, never seek cheap revenge, and always let your enemies defeat themselves,' I replied smoothly. 'If you build your house on greed and deceit, it only takes one well-placed truth to bring the whole structure crashing down.'%
