Chapter 29 - Healing Old Scars

That evening, as twilight painted the sky in shades of violet and crimson, Caleb walked through the quiet, peaceful paths of Oak Ridge Memorial Cemetery.

The birds sang softly in the tall pine trees, and the city hummed peacefully in the distance below.

Caleb approached his father's headstone.

The once-weathered granite had been polished clean, surrounded by fresh flowers and a newly placed bronze police department medal of honor.

Engraved on the stone were the words:

*OFFICER DANIEL REED*

*1972 – 2008*

*A Man of Courage, Mercy, and Truth*

*He Believed Everyone Deserved One Last Chance*

Caleb knelt beside the stone, placing his hand gently against the cool granite.

"We did it, Dad," Caleb whispered into the evening breeze. "Thorne's empire is gone. The city is safe. Marcus is living an honest life. And Mom is happy again."

A gentle gust of wind rustled the pine needles, feeling like a comforting hand resting upon his shoulder.

Caleb touched the brass badge on his chest. "I promise to wear this badge with the same honor, courage, and mercy you showed the world every single day."
