Chapter 19 - The Final Trial

The news broadcast broadcasted live across every major network in the world.

"In an unprecedented global law enforcement operation, joint forces from Interpol, the FBI, and NATO have dismantled the international criminal syndicate known as the Apex Council. The mastermind behind the decades-old network, Baroness Beatrix von Hagen, along with former executives Victor Vance and Julian Vance, have been formally charged with multi-national treason, corporate assassination, and high-level money laundering."

Inside the Federal District Courthouse in Washington D.C., the grand courtroom was packed to maximum capacity. Journalists, international diplomats, and business tycoons filled every wooden bench.

At the prosecutor’s table sat Victoria Sterling, accompanied by Lucas Vance, who was presenting a master stack of financial ledgers and decoded server drives.

Sitting in the front row of the gallery, wearing a sharp navy blue suit, was Richard Vance. Beside him sat Grandmaster Chen, fully recovered from his injuries, holding his jade dragon cane with pride.

And at the witness stand, standing tall beneath the bright courtroom lights, was Olivia Carrington.

"Miss Carrington," the Lead Federal Prosecutor asked, stepping up to the podium. "Can you identify for the court the individuals responsible for the thirty-year campaign of terror against your family and your company?"

Olivia looked directly toward the defense table.

Sitting in heavy iron shackles and bright orange prison jumpsuits were Beatrix von Hagen, Victor Vance, Julian Vance, and Ethan Vance. Ethan refused to meet her eyes, staring pathetically at his cuffed wrists, while Beatrix maintained a bitter, hateful glare.

"I can," Olivia said, her voice echoing clearly and powerfully throughout the silent courtroom. "The woman on the left, Beatrix von Hagen, ordered the murder of my mother, Eleanor Carrington, thirty years ago. Victor Vance executed that order to steal our family’s company. Julian and Ethan Vance continued that campaign of violence by trying to poison me and steal my remaining shares."

Olivia turned her eyes to the jury panel. "They thought that by using wealth, power, and fear, they could break us. They thought my mother was weak because she was kind. They thought my father was powerless because he chose a humble life. But they were wrong."

She paused, taking a deep, steady breath, her face glowing with triumph. "Justice isn't given by titles or money. Justice is taken back by those who refuse to stay down."

The courtroom erupted into quiet murmurs of approval among the spectators.

The presiding Judge knocked his gavel three times. "The jury will now deliberate."

The jury returned in less than forty-five minutes—a record speed for a federal trial of this magnitude.

"On the count of enterprise corruption... guilty," the jury foreperson announced. "On the count of conspiracy to commit murder... guilty. On the count of high treason... guilty."

As the judge read the final sentences—life terms without parole for Beatrix and Victor, thirty years for Julian, and twenty years for Ethan—Ethan broke down into hysterics, weeping as federal marshals dragged him away.

Beatrix stood up, glaring at Olivia as she was cuffed. "You think you won, girl? You inherited a broken legacy!"

Olivia looked at Beatrix with calm, dignified pity. "My legacy isn't broken, Beatrix. It's just getting started."
