Chapter 29 - Justice Served Cold

That night, after a wonderful dinner, the kids gathered in the living room around the fireplace. Lily played a gentle, melodious song on the piano, her fingers moving effortlessly across the ivory keys, filling the warm room with soft, beautiful harmony. Tommy sat on the rug, carefully assembling a wooden castle puzzle with Sarah's help, while my mother knitted a woolen blue sweater by the fire.

I stood near the study doorway, taking in the magnificent sight.

Seven years ago, my life was shattered by six whispered words from a traumatized little girl on a cold floor. Today, that same little girl was creating beautiful music in a home filled with warmth, safety, and endless laughter.

My heart overflowed with profound gratitude. I realized that the greatest victory of my life wasn't defeating Julian, exposing corporate corruption, or dismantling Apex BioTech. My greatest victory was preserving the innocence, joy, and bright futures of my children.

Lily finished her piano piece with a graceful flourish, and we all clapped warmly.

"That was beautiful, Lily!" my mother praised gently.

"Thank you, Grandma!" Lily beamed, curtsying playfully.

Tommy yawned loudly, rubbing his eyes with his small fists. "Daddy... I'm sleepy."

"Come here, little man," I smiled, picking him up in my arms. "Time for bed."

Lily took my hand, and together we walked down the sun-lit hallway toward their bedrooms. Sarah joined us, helping tuck Tommy into his bed and tucking Lily into hers.

"Goodnight, Mommy. Goodnight, Daddy," Lily said softly, her eyelids heavy with peaceful sleep.

"Goodnight, my sweet angel," Sarah whispered, kissing her cheek.

"Goodnight, my brave girl," I added softly, kissing her forehead and gently turning off the main lamp, leaving on a warm little nightlight shaped like a star.

We stood in the doorway for a moment, watching our two children sleep peacefully side by side.
