Chapter 21 - The Wedding of the Century

Six months later.

The historic St. Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue was decorated with thousands of white roses, delicate baby's breath, and glowing taper candles. The pews were filled with prominent figures from around the globe, business leaders, warehouse workers, community advocates, and close friends.

Organ music resonated through the magnificent stone arches as the double doors opened.

Rebecca stepped onto the white runner carpet, taking the arm of her son, Julian. She looked mesmerizingly beautiful in a custom ivory lace gown that flowed gracefully behind her, holding a bouquet of fresh white orchids and lilies.

Julian looked down at his mother, his eyes misty with pride. "You look so happy, Mom."

"I am happy, Julian," Rebecca whispered back, her heart swelling with gratitude. "More than I ever thought possible."

At the front of the altar stood Gabriel, wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, watching his bride walk toward him with an expression of pure, awe-struck love. Beside him as his best man was Julian's best friend from Columbia.

When Julian placed Rebecca’s hand into Gabriel’s, he leaned over and whispered to Gabriel, "Take care of her."

"With my life," Gabriel promised softly.

The ceremony was breathtaking in its simplicity and depth. As the archbishop pronounced them husband and wife, Gabriel kissed Rebecca with a reverence that brought soft cheers and applause from the guests.

Outside on the steps of the church, flashbulbs clicked rapidly as news outlets captured the triumphant moment.

The head sentence of the evening news read:
