Chapter 22 - The Mastermind's Legacy

Five years later.

The Sterling-Vance Global Headquarters had expanded into a international powerhouse valued at over five billion dollars. Operating in twelve countries, the firm was recognized as the world leader in sustainable tech innovation and employee-owned corporate structures.

Julian Vance, now twenty-seven, sat at the head of the boardroom table as Chief Executive Officer, having seamlessly stepped into the role with incredible skill, composure, and vision.

Sitting beside him as Senior Executive Advisor was Rebecca, looking as regal and timeless as ever.

"The third-quarter impact report is in, CEO Vance," Arthur Hayes announced with a proud grin. "Our clean energy grid initiative in East Africa has brought electricity to two million homes while generating a eighteen percent return for our trust investors."

"Excellent work, Arthur," Julian said, closing his tablet. "Let's make sure twenty percent of those returns are routed directly into the local educational endowment fund as planned."

After the meeting adjourned, Julian walked into his mother's executive corner office, which looked out over the thriving city.

"You led that meeting like a seasoned veteran, Julian," Rebecca said warmly, pouring two cups of chamomile tea.

"I had the best mentor in the world, Mom," Julian smiled, taking a cup. "Hard to believe it’s been five years since... everything happened."

"Time moves quickly when you're building something that lasts," Rebecca reflected gently.

"Have you heard from the penitentiary lately?" Julian asked cautiously.

Rebecca set her teacup down smoothly. "Arthur receives quarterly updates from the federal bureau. Daniel’s final hardship petition was denied last month. He is currently working in the prison laundry room, serving his remaining eighteen years."

Julian stayed quiet for a moment. "Does it ever hurt?"

"No," Rebecca answered truthfully, her voice completely free of resentment. "Daniel made his choices. He wanted a life built on shortcuts, lies, and vanity. He got exactly what he chased. We chose truth, integrity, and love. And we got what we built."
