Chapter 25 - The Closing Circle

Two months later, Daniel Vance passed away quietly in the medical wing of the federal facility in Pennsylvania.

At his request, there was no grand funeral, no corporate eulogies, and no public fanfare. Only a quiet, modest service at a rural cemetery in upstate New York.

Rebecca, Julian, and Gabriel stood under a black umbrella as a soft spring rain fell over the green hillside.

Julian stepped forward, laying a single white rose onto the wooden casket. "Rest in peace, Dad."

Rebecca walked up beside her son. She looked down at the grave of the man she had loved for twenty-three years, the man who had betrayed her, and the man whose fall had cleared her path to true freedom.

"I forgive you, Daniel," Rebecca whispered into the rain-softened wind. "May you finally find the peace you never allowed yourself to have in life."

As they walked back to the car together, Gabriel took her hand, holding it firmly against the cold rain.

"Are you okay, my love?" Gabriel asked gently.

May you like

Rebecca looked up at her husband, then at her son, and felt a profound, unbreakable serenity settling into her heart.

"I am completely whole, Gabriel," Rebecca said softly. "The past is finally resting where it belongs."
