Chapter 29 - The Promises We Keep

Two years after the tragedy of the Sonoma wedding, the estate outside Sonoma was once again decorated for a celebration.
But this time, everything was different.
Margaret had bought the estate back from receivership, transforming it into a family retreat. The dark memory of the past had been cleansed and replaced with light, warmth, and genuine love.
The glass conservatory was filled with wildflowers, warm fairy lights, and intimate tables set for fifty close friends, family, and team members. There were no high-society cameras, no corporate sharks, no media reporters.
In the groom's suite upstairs, Nathan stood before the mirror, adjusting his black tuxedo tie. He looked happy, peaceful, and quietly confident.
A knock sounded at the door, and Margaret stepped inside. She wore an exquisite gold silk gown, radiating grace and joy.
'You look handsome, my son,' Margaret said, her eyes shining with proud tears as she walked over to straighten his boutonnière.
'Thanks to you, Mom,' Nathan said, kissing her cheek. 'Thank you for standing by me through the darkest days.'
'We stood by each other, Nathan,' Margaret corrected gently. 'And now, it's time for your new beginning.'
Downstairs, the soft notes of an acoustic guitar began to play—not a rigid, formal march, but a warm, joyful melody.
Nathan took his place at the altar in the garden. Standing beside him as his best man was Maya, and watching from the front row with a warm smile was Audrey, who had been released on parole three months early for good conduct and was rebuilding her life quietly in Oregon.
The doors opened, and Sophia Vance stepped into the sunlight.
She wore a breathtakingly simple silk ivory gown, holding a bouquet of lavender and white roses. Her eyes locked onto Nathan's, glowing with pure, undeniable love.
As she reached the altar, Nathan took her hands in his. Her fingers were warm, steady, and true.
'I promise to honor you, protect you, and stand by your side through every storm,' Nathan spoke his vows, his voice ringing with pure conviction.
'I promise to choose you, trust you, and love you for all my days,' Sophia replied softly.
